Implementation of a Document and Knowledge Management System

CPA Australia is Australia's largest professional body with over 98,000 members. The organisation's mission is for CPA Australia to be leaders in financial, accounting and business advice.

As CPA Australia sought to expand and grow, it became increasingly necessary to have a structured process for managing documents and knowledge within the organisation.

Accordingly CPA embarked on a program to upgrade to a new standard operating environment (SOE) and document and knowledge management system. Given the size of the overall project scope, it was felt bringing these technologies together as one solution would reduce the business impact.

This incorporated preparation for changing business processes and included a comprehensive staff training program.

In order to manage the risk, Peter Byrne of Rebound Consulting was engaged to establish the appropriate governance structure, and to manage the program on behalf of CPA Australia.

Rebound Consulting was able to bring extensive experience of similar assignments to bear on the design of the project. Multiple options and decisions were worked through to provide high level controls to a complex project and to deliver the desired outcomes within an acceptable timeframe and to minimise the risk to the business.

In 2002 Ferrier Hodgson (Victoria) made the decision to upgrade their practice management system due to address an aging technology issue.

Peter Byrne of Rebound Consulting was engaged to manage the implementation process of Ferrier Hodgson (Victoria's) new practice management system (CMS Open). Working in conjunction with the staff of the firm and the software supplier (Solution 6), Peter Byrne established a timeline for all criteria of the implementation to be addressed and finalised. Peter Byrne always ensured any task at hand was efficiently organised and completed.

Rebound Consulting, with experience on similar assignments, streamlined the decision making process and delivered the desired outcome of the system implementation in an acceptable and timely manner.
